WEST BROM 2-1 SUNDERLAND
Peter Clarke named Osaze Odemwingie in his team list for the first time since the transfer deadline day saga. The Nigerian International striker was a substitute for two-goal hero, Romelu Lukaku, replacing the Belgian in the 88th minute of the match.
READING 0-3 EVERTON
Hope Akpan was handed yet another start by Reading boss, Brian McDermott but things didn’t go according to plans for the young midfielder and he was taken off in the 46th minute for Adam Le Fondre, who is the current EPL player of the month. Reading went down to two Aruna Kone goals and a rare Maynor Figueroa goal.
QPR 0-2 MAN UTD
Nedum Onuoha was an unused substitute in his team’s defeat against table leaders, Manchester United at Loftus Road.
Manchester United took the lead through Brazilian full back, Rafael who smashed in the opener from twenty yards out. Veteran winger, Ryan Giggs made sure of the points in the closing stages.
NORWICH CITY 2-1 EVERTON
Norwich City came back from a goal down to surprise Everton. Victor Anichebe was missing in action for the Evertonians, who took the lead in the first half through Leon Osman, who connected with Leighton Baines’ cross to head past David Bunn in the Norwich goal.
Sierra Leonean striker, Kei Kamara who’s on loan at Carrow Road from MLS side Kansas City changed the game when he was introduced for Luciano Beechio in the 58th minute. Kamara equalised for the Canaries to become the first player from Sierra Leone to score in the English Premier League, this means players from 88 different countries have scored in the EPL.
Kamara also played a part in the winner, heading the ball into the path of Captain, Grant Holt, just for Holt to pass the ball into the net.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 4-2 SOUTHAMPTON
Shola Ameobi was an unused substitute in his side’s convincing win over Southampton at St. James Park. Goals from Moussa Sissoko, Papis Cisse, Yohann Cabaye and Hooiveld’s own goal were enough to give the Magpies the win. Schneiderlin and Lambert scored for Southampton.
MAN CITY 2-0 CHELSEA
John Mikel Obi started his first EPL game for Chelsea in a month for the crunch tie against Man City at the Ettihad stadium but was hauled off in the second half for Fernando Torres as his team searched for goals.
Frank Lampard missed a penalty after City goalie, Joe Hart was adjudged to have fouled Demba Ba in the box.
City took a deserved lead through reigning African footballer of the year, Yaya Toure before Carlos Tevez put the icing on the cake with the second.
Victor Moses was brought on as a replacement for Eden Hazard.
