  Kelechi Iheanacho hit the headlines last weekend after scoring on his first English Premier League start for Leicester City this season. Popular amongst his Nigerian fans as ‘Senior Man Kelz,’ the Super Eagles forward did not disappoint pundits who have been questioning why Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, prefers to start him from the bench rather than the starting eleven.

Interestingly, Iheanacho’s 31st-minute strike for Leicester against Crystal Palace on Sunday, October 3, 2021, capped off the 25th birthday celebration of the Nigerian international. The game would go on to end 2-2. Super Falcons of Nigeria captain, Asisat Oshoala, continued with her brilliant form for FC Barcelona Femini after grabbing a brace in Saturday’s (October 2) 9-1 win over Alaves. Oshoala’s goals meant she has scored for the fourth game in a row for Barcelona.

In the German Bundesliga, Super Eagles new invitee, Taiwo Awoniyi, was the focus of the weekend. Awoniyi made the difference in his club’s 2-1 comeback win over Mainz in the league. He scored the equalizer for Union in the 69th minute and would go on to score the winner in the 73rd minute of the match.
