  Over the weekend, the Nigeria Professional Football League had some thrilling encounters for fans. A 2-0 win over visiting Warri Wolves saw Kwara United reclaim the top spot in the league at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Sunday, February 28, 2021.

An eight-minute strike from Stephen Jude put the Ilorin-based side ahead before Michael Ohanu scored a second in the 26th minute to gift the home side a comfortable lead before half time as Kwara hung on till the end. The biggest win for the weekend saw Akwa United thrash Rivers United 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Seth Mayi set up Mfon Udoh for the opener in the 40th minute. Ten minutes after the break, Charles Atshimene made it two for the hosts.  With just a minute left from normal time, Morice’s effort made it 3-0 for the Uyo-based side. League giants, Enyimba FC, earned a vital away 1-1 draw against Jigawa Golden Stars, while Plateau United also battled to a barren draw away to Ifeanyi Ubah FC.

In the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), the match week 7 saw some interesting results as visiting Rivers Angels piped Pelican Stars FC 2-1, Bayelsa Queens also recorded a vital 2-1 away win against Abia Angels FC, while Royal Queens registered a comfortable 2-0 home win against Dreamstar Ladies.
