MFM was held to a 1-1 home draw by Ifeanyi Uba at the Agege Stadium on Sunday. The hosts took the lead through a strike from Justice Zachariah in the 36th minute of the encounter. The visitors would have to wait until the 64th minute as Lukman Aliu gifted them the equalizer.

The Nigerian’s personal best saw her break a ten-year Meet Record (MR) set by Kimberlyn Duncan. Also, Ofili’s time is the fastest recorded by an African athlete this season and the 2nd fastest time run in the history of the U-20 category, just 0.17 seconds shy of the 34-year record set by Mary Onyali in the Area Junior Record. Nigerian female wrestlers showed class on Day 2 of the ongoing African and Oceania Olympic Qualifying tournament in Tunisia. The trio of Blessing Oborududu (68kg), Aminat Adeniyi (62kg) and Adijat Idris (50kg) have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. While Oborududu (2018 Commonwealth Gold-medalist) did not struggle to beat her opponents in the women’s 68kg after recording back-to-back technical superiority wins over Enas Mostafa Youssef Khourshed Ahmed (Egypt), and Senegal’s Anta Sambou, two-time Commonwealth Gold-medalist, Aminat Adeniyi, fell to world No.1 Marwa Amri (Tunisia), but the Nigerian’s ability to win her bout in two other rounds, booked her a ticket to Tokyo.
