The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod, has expressed his delight in the growth of the sport in the country since he took over the running of the federation.

Nimrod disclosed that, despite the difficulties the volleyball governing body and clubs under it, experienced in the past years, it is now business as usual for the sport in Nigeria.

There will be a series of awards to encourage the new crop of volleyball players that can represent Nigeria internationally, including the best attacker, best defender and other award categories.

These players did not just appear. They came from the U-17, U-19 and U-21. I’m beginning to be fulfilled even if tomorrow I am no more the president of the federation, I feel fulfilled because there are worthy replacements.

“…The registration money from the players is not what got us here alone, the board members have also contributed a lot. They sacrificed. We have a product to sell and it is fantastic despite the lack of sponsors.

— Nimrod told the media.

The volleyball boss noted that, though the federation has done quite well without reasonable sponsorship, the door is open for all who wish to collaborate with clubs and the governing body, to grow the game in Nigeria.

Clubs who did not participate in the league, have been issued a sanction of ₦200,000, and have been barred from next year’s league according to the League Management Committee.
