If you’ve kept track of Adesua Etomi’s work over the past few years, you’ve probably been dying to see her in her latest release; a film called Muna. Jelili, on the other hand, is more of an acquired taste. He appeared on screen eight years ago, and is back again in a sequel called Survival of Jelili.
These aren’t all your options though, there are number of films from past weeks still showing in cinemas this weekend. Scroll down for details.
Muna
Meet Muna. No, you’ve never met anyone like her before. When she was still a little girl, an evil man took her away from home and sold her to other evil men. He watched as they dragged her away. They took her to a difficult place, and kept her there. Bitterness grew in her heart and changed her. She escaped, and now she will do everything she has to do to avenge the innocence she lost.
In this rare, live action Nollywood film, Adesua Etomi is Muna; a woman that was kidnapped and sold into a child trafficking ring at a very young age. The ordeal has shaped Muna into something deadly; a beautiful and lethal woman set on revenge. It appears the film will take us on her journey as she hunts down human traffickers and begins to take them out, execution style. But there are complications. The trailer shows snippets of a budding love affair. At some point, Muna realizes she is under the influence of an emotion she has never experienced before. “I feel giddy,” she says to a friend. In fact, she is falling in love. But this man wants to get close. He wants to know more about her. How can Muna tell him her secrets or let him into her life? Will she let go of this new, beautiful thing? Or will she let go of revenge? Can she have both?

Survival of Jelili
Survival of Jelili is extreme comedy mixed with a dash of wisdom. Jelili is a simple man, too simple. He is happy to take on any kind of job, but without the intelligence to plan his path or weigh his decisions, he often ends up in ridiculous situations. The film features Femi Adebayo as Jelili, Desmond Elliot as some kind of military man, Toyin Abraham as a ‘pizzetarian’ (a person who only eats pizza), and Ninalowo Bolanle in his bad boy element.
We’re not entirely sure what lessons you could take away from this film, but curiosity hardly hurts. Watch with caution, and be careful you don’t catch whatever it is that has a hold of Jelili’s brain.
Other films still showing in cinemas this weekend:
