If your YSF (Young, Single and Free) status is a bother to you this Valentine, here are some tips to avoid being the Valentine Grinch. 1. Send yourself flowers: Tried and tested. A lady walked into a florist shop some valentines ago and placed an order, a dozen roses for Valentine’s Day sent to an office at noon. When asked what should be on the card she vaguely said, oh, just some scripture. When the florist made the delivery, she was a bit surprised that the lady was at the office to receive them, and that was when she realised the girl had just ordered herself flowers for Valentine! And it was worth the money, because all the guys in the office jostled each other to see who had sent them, but all they saw was:

Many waters cannot quench love, Songs of Solomon 8: 7. I love you.

The lady called the florist afterwards to thank her for the words. Letting the florist write the message had afforded the lady a nice surprise too. 2. Send yourself a cake: They deliver too, and its something you can share with others and make them happy. Ensure that it is still from an admirer though, explanation below. 3. Send yourself a meal, perfume, or anything at all: Whatever it is that you’ve been wishing for, this is the day to make your dreams come true. Order it, have it gift wrapped and sent to you. Be prepared for any ripples, in case there’s this person you’re digging, and maybe he/she digs you too. So perhaps there’s someone waiting in the wings who could be put off asking you out for the day if you’re already ‘taken.’ So please, do NOT say they are from your (non-existent) boy/girlfriend, just say it’s from an admirer, after all, you do admire yourself don’t you? No? Sweetheart, you should. 4. Take yourself out: Get some friends and hang out for the evening. It’s not a public holiday and usually the next day you are back at work, so take it easy, just have fun, or stay home and watch some action movies- if you are the sappy type please avoid romance movies. After night comes day, and before you know it, that dreaded Valentine’s day is O-V-E-R. Hurray!!!
