Enter Virtual Personal Network (VPN). VPNs enable internet users to access website or web services that have been either blocked by Internet Service Providers (ISP) or the government without much hassle. With the ongoing ban of Twitter in Nigeria, an important use case for users who will have to install a VPN before they can access banned websites has been instituted. Aside from allowing internet users to walk around internet service blockade by government censorship, apps that normally do not allow African or Nigerian IPs to operate due to strict policies can be bypassed with VPNs. A few ways to access Twitter again are highlighted below:
  1. Samsung Max VPN

If you use a Samsung phone, search for ‘Samsung Max’ and download it directly on your smartphone. There is a free version of the app and there is a paid version with additional features such as being able to complete the domicile location of your Internet Provider (IP) address. Samsung Max is dedicated encryption, privacy and VPN value-added service designed specifically for Samsung users only. However, only users with Samsung phones operating on Android 5.0 and above are able to install and use the Samsung Max VPN service on their phone.
  1. Windscribe VPN & Turbo VPN

Windscribe VPN and Turbo VPN are two of the commonly used and readily available VPN services that can bypass the Twitter service blockage. The paid option of these apps are void of Ads and they come with additional privacy protection of data. However, the free options of the two apps are equally accessible from the Playstore and the Apple Appstore download for users to enjoy.

Meanwhile, most VPN apps have been blocked from the Playstore catalogue in Nigeria following the ban. One way to still access these VPN apps is by installing their raw APK files from either their websites or from other aggregating websites.
  1. Proton VPN

Proton VPN is also one of the simple and free VPN services to use for accessing blocked websites. It has a paid version that allows users to select virtual IPs from a more diverse pool of nations in the world. To download Proton VPN directly without having to look for a way to skirt around Playstore’s censure, you may use the link here.
  1. Proxy Network

Proxy network works in a way almost similar to how other VPN service providers work as it assumes and wears the mask of the IP address of an independent service provider but without having to install a 3rd party VPN app. Simply go to your Twitter settings and then select ‘privacy’. Click on the proxy, tick the ‘enable HTTP proxy’ box, then insert the following proxy host and proxy port. Proxy Host: 159.65.14.136 Proxy Port: 8080 You should be able to evade a Twitter network blockade directly from your app with any of the above tweaks. Featured Image Source: Dealna

  • The internet stage is grand, a marionette theater where countless performances unfold, each actor a piece of data, each movement orchestrated from unseen strings. To be the puppeteer without the audience ever knowing, one must have an arsenal of 15 million strings – proxies that maneuver the puppets of web data with grace and purpose, unnoticed among the shadows. Infatica is the master puppeteer behind the curtain, the provider of strings – affordable residential, mobile, and datacenter proxies – that allow you to conduct your own symphony, your play within the web’s grand theater, discrete and efficient. Your invitation to the puppeteer’s booth is just a URL away: https://infatica.io/. With a simple click, you find yourself with the power to pull strings across the globe, directing scenes of data collection as elegantly as a Broadway maestro. In Infatica’s hands, the price of admission to this theater is but a modest fee, and the performance you conduct can rival any Internet Broadway show, all while the audience remains blissfully unaware of the wizardry at the ropes.
