Super Eagles of Nigeria central back, William Troost-Ekong, has expressed excitement over extending his contract with his Italian club, Udinese, and has vowed to remain committed. The new deal was signed by Ekong on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 and will keep the Nigerian international at the Italian outfit until 2023.

Ekong, 26, joined the Bianconeri in the 2018 summer transfer window from Turkish Super Lig side, Bursaspor, pening a four-year contract that has seen the Nigerian establish himself as a mainstay in the main team. Last season, Ekong made 35 appearances for the club, helping the Italian Serie A side to a 12th spot finish on the 2018/2019 league log. The central back also played a vital role in the 2019 AFCON bronze-winning Eagles squad in Egypt, scoring the decider in the quarterfinal match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Ekong, born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father and Dutch mother, has made nine league appearances for Udinese so far this season (2019/2020), and will look to continue with his fine form for the European side.
