  1. Choose Your Seat Wisely
For those flying: If you want the flight attendants to give you premium attention, then opt for seats closer to the portion of the aeroplane where they stay. The closer you are to them, the easier it will be to get their attention. And the further away you are from them, the less likely you will interact with them. Also, exit rows are a superb choice and sometimes bulkhead seats can be a wonderful choice. For those using road transport:
  1. Stick With One Transport Company
If you are flying or travelling by road, choose one reliable transport company and stick to them. When you use different companies, it makes it hard to register yourself with their loyalty programs. With a profile and data that shows you are a frequent/repeat customer, you make yourself available to receive perks.
  1. Purchase A Durable Luggage Bag
If you travel often, then a durable travel bag is a must. Once you surrender your bag at baggage for loading into the aeroplane or bus, you won’t be there to supervise its handling. Even if you are the one putting it in overhead bins on a train or plane, having a solid bag which won’t disappoint. Not sure how to decide on which bags are best, read up on product reviews from online shops. This will guide you in your choice of durable bag to purchase.

  1. Plan Your Meals
Buying food from the street and restaurants can be fun for a food tourist. But if you are staying more than a couple of days, it’s best to come up with a plan for your meals. Choose an apartment with a kitchenette where you can cook easy meals for yourself like noodles, fry eggs and plantain, or make Jollof/fried rice if you intend to stay for days or weeks. It’s more cost-effective to cook local dishes than to buy them out daily.
  1. Be Nice to the Staff and Service providers
Being nice to people regardless of it, they reciprocate it or not has its rewards. Someone is always watching and in due time, you will benefit from being kind and nice. Being nice to any hotel or airline staff could get you an upgrade or might just enrich your journey. You never know where else you would run into certain persons when you travel, so just be nice.
  1. Ever Heard Of The ‘Shower Trick’?
Having clothes that wrinkle can be a bit of a hassle. Back in the day, we used to sprinkle water on the clothes and hang them behind the refrigerator to dry and ease the crease. Travelling with a travel iron takes up space. So try the shower trick. This is simply the use of steam to straighten out your clothes. Hang them in the bathroom and run hot water from the shower for 10 minutes so the steam fills the room. But this doesn’t work for all clothes, just the ones with minor creases. To be on the safe side, roll your clothes to reduce creases and pack clothes that are wrinkle-free. What hacks do you use when travelling that hasn’t been covered online on any travel site?
