  When you hear “seven-star” the first thing that comes to your mind is ranking. Well, you are not far from the truth, but in this case our attention is focused on tourism; hotels to be precise. Hotel ratings are mostly used to classify hotels according to their quality. Rating schemes vary depending on the organization involved, and many have the system that involves stars. The higher the number of stars the greater the luxury. (Wikipedia) Food service, entertainment, view, room, spa, fitness center and ease of access and location are criteria in hotel ranking/standards. Tourism in Nigeria is undergoing a serious face lift. Nigeria is fast becoming the new frontier in the hospitality industry in Africa and nothing complements this status than the addition of a 7-star luxury hotel in the next two/three years. Yes, a seven star hotel. Currently there are few 7-star hotels in the world. The Burj Al Arab in Dubai, which is at the top on my list of seven star hotels, was modelled after the sail of a famous Arabian ship. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece whose foundation was constructed on an artificial island and is home to the world’s tallest atrium. Also on the list of  seven star hotels are House of  Galleria (Italy-Mila), The Morgan Plaza (China- Beijing), The flower of the East (Kish Island Iran),The Centaurus (Islamabad –Pakistan). The 1st Starwood 7-star Luxury Collection mixed Resort and Apartment in highbrow Ikoyi,  Lagos Nigeria is already a work-in-progress. Tourism is a very big sector in this country; it is a huge source of foreign exchange, unlike oil that has a specific shelf life.
