  Applications are currently open for the Pitch AgriHack competition for AgriTech startups. This contest gives ventures and founders in the AgriTech space the opportunity to showcase their solutions and have a go at claiming prize money.

Pitch AgriHack aims to identify and spotlight tech-driven solutions to challenges in the agricultural space, which have become a more pressing concern in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will provide funding and ongoing support to winners, which should enable them to scale their impact on Africa’s food systems. This competition is managed by Generation Africa and sponsored by Heifer International.

Benefits

Winning participants and runners-up will reap these benefits from the Pitch AgriHack competition:
  • Take a share of the $45,000 prize money on offer
  • The competition is divided into three segments: Early stage, Mature or Growth stage, and Women-Led. There will be a winner and runner-up for each of these three categories, who will receive $10,000 and $5,000 in prize money each
  • Participants also have their work promoted on the continental stage
  • Finalists will have access to the AGRF Deal Room, which will be attended by more than 800 companies, 15 government delegations, and 150 private and public investors, and explore new partnership and investment opportunities

Eligibility

This competition is open to founders and startups that meet these criteria:
  • Founders must be aged between 18 and 40 years at the time they enter the competition
  • They must be a founder or co-founder of the startup they represent
  • Must have no record of past tax evasion, financial impropriety, corruption, or other crimes
  • Should not be a previous Pitch AgriHack or GoGettaz winner or runner-up

The Lead-up to the Finals

Applications will remain open until July 3, 2023. The organizers will evaluate entries based on their feasibility, innovativeness, and potential for positive impact. Founders who are selected for the finals will pitch their startup and solutions to a panel on stage at a live event, at the AGRF in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 4-8.
