  The MTN ICT and Business Skills Training exists to help young Nigerian entrepreneurs acquire the tech and business skills they need to build successful ventures. This program essentially consists of a 5-week online program, which includes masterclasses from leading experts from various industries. It will also provide participants with resources enabling them to execute their plans—including substantial funding in the form of grants.

Thus far, 5 phases of this program have been implemented across Nigeria, starting in 2018. States which have been reached include Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Borno, Cross River, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Oyo and Rivers. Over 4,000 persons have been trained. All of this has been made possible by MTN in partnership with Oracle, KPMG, IBM, Digital Bridge Institute, CISCO, Google, Meta, and Microsoft.

Benefits

This program offers the following benefits to participants:
  • 3000 youth will receive free training in ICT and business skills
  • The top 300 participants will get grants totalling ₦90 million
  • Microsoft will train participants on Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age, ICT for Business Success, and Generative AI skills
  • Meta will train entrepreneurs in the art of building business brands and growing businesses online through the Meta Boost Small Business Studio

Eligibility

This program is open to persons who meet the following criteria:
  • Should be a Nigerian aged between 18 and 35 years
  • Own a small business that hasn’t been in operation for more than 2 years
  • Their small business should be located in Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Kebbi, Niger, or Yobe State
