  The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is accepting applications from students who want to intern with it. The bank says that its internship program is aimed at giving students a better understanding of what it does and enabling them to acquire skills that they can apply in their future careers. It also intends that interns will provide fresh and valuable ideas, thus contributing to improving the bank’s operations.

Internships with Afreximbank will last a maximum of 6 months and will be offered two times (i.e. two seasons) a year. Persons who intend to intern with the bank can apply at any time of the year, depending on when they would like to work with it. Only two candidates will be accepted into the institution as interns every season.

Benefits

Interns with Afreximbank will enjoy these benefits from the internship program:
  • Receive a monthly stipend of $800 for the duration of their internship
  • Be accommodated in a hotel (which comes with bedding and breakfast) for one week following their arrival
  • Have their return fare transport costs covered by the bank
  • Get a visa which will remain valid for the duration of the internship

Eligibility

This internship program is open to persons who meet these criteria:
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at a recognized university
  • Candidates’ field of study should be any one of the following: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Statistics, Social Sciences, Law, or other related disciplines

  • Should be fluent in English or French; proficiency in written and spoken Portuguese and Arabic will confer an added advantage
  • Must be aged between 20 and 32 years at the time they apply for an internship with the bank
