Introducing the latest innovative application in Nigeria … the Buharimeter! The app can be used to track the progress of our country’s new leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, with assessments alongside manifesto promises declared during the pre-election season. It was launched on June 1, 2015 and currently has 2,000 followers. “Buharimeter is conceptualised to address the challenges of governance, civic participation and effective service delivery in Nigeria. The central focus of this initiative is to bridge existing gap between the government and the governed thereby facilitating a process through which democratic accountability becomes the norm,” cites the official website. Participants can submit scores on government activities and iWitness reports. There’s also a citizens’ forum for engagement among Nigerians. The project was developed by The Centre for Democracy and Development West Africa (CDD) to promote citizen governance and democratic accountability in Nigeria. Sponsors and partners include the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and BudgIT. Learn more about this impressive application by visiting its website.
