  Ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly matches against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria, the camp of the Super Eagles officially opened today, Monday, October 5, 2020. Expected to keep the players in great shape ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers billed for November, the Nigeria Football Federation had to make do with the Algerian national team after Ivory Coast who were initially scheduled to play Nigeria on October 9 pulled out.

With the understanding that most of the players who ply their trade in Europe featured for their clubs over the weekend, they are expected to hit camp on Tuesday, October 6 for training to commence ahead of the matches scheduled to hold on October 9 and 13, 2020. The Media Officer of the national team, Toyin Ibitoye, disclosed that some officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) alongside assistant coaches, Joseph Yobo and Alloy Agu, all teamed up with Head Coach of the national team, Gernot Rohr, on Saturday, October 3, in Austria, to keep the camp in shape ahead of the arrival of players. Ibitoye further noted that the players will be examined by national team doctors when they arrive at the camp of the three-time African champions.

‘Training will start on Tuesday once the coaches get enough number of players. Some of the invited players played league games for their clubs at the weekend, so the coaches will put that into consideration on the players’ arrival schedules. Every arrangement for the game is taken care of.’ Toyin Ibitoye
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been excused from the squad due to coronavirus scare as players of his Italian club, SSC Napoli, have been placed on self-isolation after two of their players tested positive for the virus.
