Sunday Mba

Sunday Mba is a free man at last, after Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers reached an agreement over his transfer. The Nigerian 2013 AFCON hero has been out of action due to the tug of war between the two clubs over his contract/ownership. Warri Wolves FC has finally bowed to appeals from various stakeholders, to save the career of Nigeria midfielder, Sunday Mba, by releasing him to Enugu Rangers FC for an undisclosed fee. According to Complete Sports, the fee is thought to be in the region of N15 milion (about $94.876.65), with add-ons and other clauses attached. The Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Pinnick Amaju, reveals that the agreement was reached after a marathon meeting with NFF officials and Rangers’ management team. Mba has been cleared to represent Rangers locally in the final, pending the payment of the agreed fee by Enugu Rangers. Amaju said “We don’t want to be seen as a clog in the wheel of progress of Rangers FC or Mba. That is why we allowed him to go and play the African Champions League return leg against the Angolan champions in Luanda this weekend. Rangers will pay the agreed fee and Warri Wolves will be entitled to 60 percent of further transfer proceeds of Mba to any foreign club. He can play the league for them if Rangers pay and agree to the clause which gives us 60 per cent ownership right for a period. “Mba has not showed gratitude for all we (Warri Wolves) did for him. So he can go. We don’t need him, but we wanted things done the right way. Enugu Rangers deserved punishment by the NFF, for the way they went about the transfer. We have allowed things to go because of the respect we have for the NFF president Aminu Maigari who interceded.” Mr Amaju stated.
