  The eighth edition of the Startup South conference, otherwise called Startup South 8, is set to take place in Port Harcourt, from October 5-6, 2023. The event, which will also admit an online audience, is expected to shine a spotlight on the tech ecosystems of the South East and South-South and plot a path forward for startups in both regions.

Startup South, the premier annual conference and meeting place for tech founders, industry players, experts and investors for 11 states in southern Nigeria, is set to be held over two days this October. The venue for the in-person event is the oil city of Port Harcourt. There, an audience comprising stakeholders from across the tech space in the region’s 13 major cities will hear leading figures in the industry share insights and reveal their thoughts on the topical issues of our times with respect to emerging technologies and the creation of an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. This year’s edition of the conference will be its eighth. It is themed “Deep and Bold: 5IR, Emerging Realities, Regional Economic Imperatives, and the Role of Innovation”. Attendees will be treated to plenary and breakout sessions which will discuss issues related to the above-mentioned theme.

There will be keynotes by top business leaders, fireside chats featuring successful entrepreneurs and executives, masterclasses from leading experts and professionals, startup pitches from founders building interesting things, and panels that deep-dive into the crucial issues of our times and the near future in tech. Besides these attractions, there will be ample time and space for networking. Participants will get the chance to meet and connect with founders, business leaders, policymakers, investors, creators, brand managers, and influencers. The scope of discussions will be almost unlimited, spanning the very latest in tech, market opportunities, possible partnerships, and even investments.
