“Remind me” is track number one on Simi‘s studio album titled “Simisola“. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard World Albums chart less than 3 weeks from its release, and won her Best R&B/Pop album at The Headies 2018.
The song juxtaposes the display of love and affection for kin against the selfishness and utter disregard for our neighbor’s plight. It portrays how distant the world is from truly caring and genuinely loving, suggests that this prevalent callousness hadn’t always been our nature, and we should thus be reminded to be our brother’s keeper.
You will enjoy the nuances in Simi’s angelic voice, the instrumentation and reflective lyrics on this soulful tune.
It was produced by Simi’s longtime associate and beat maker, Oscar Heman-Ackah, and released on the X3M Music platform.
[Verse 1]
I forgot how to be
The kind of person that you asked me to be
I forgot how to see
Love in everything, I forgot totally
My brother say e love me, I love am too
My man call me honey and I call am boo
But my neighbor no like me, I hate am too
A man call me stupid, I call am fool
[Hook]
Cause I forgot how to love
The way you asked me to
Remind me, remind me how
To lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
To lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
I forgot how to give
Those who are in need, so selfish of me
Even when it got too hard
Too hard for me to care, I forgot how to try
My baby said she hungry, I give am food
I tell am I will do anything for you
But a stranger said please sir, I nor get shoe
I look am like this say who are you?
Cause I forgot how to love
The way you asked me to
Remind me, remind me how
To lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
To lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
