Ethics is a fundamental principle of life which is required of all humans. The world is evolving in diverse dynamics and certain standards of behavioural patterns are required for social existence to be possible. However, this post is not an attempt to teach in strong terms, how people should act but it is meant to assist anyone who desires to leverage on international best practice to achieve success and professionalism. Let’s start with gender issues. It is respectful to step aside on a staircase when you see a woman walking through the same way you are on. It’s wrong to strut through your way ignoring her presence. It’s good etiquette to allow a woman to stretch her hand first if you have to shake her. Allow her to initiate the process, that is the best way to relate to a woman. Don’t be brash at her, your simplicity is better than whatever might you have acquired through the passage of time. The act of saying “thank you” must be cultivated amongst us. It seems minor but we can change an entire system with this attitudinal philosophy. Don’t write or send text messages to anyone when you are angry. It’s bad practice to do so and you will be surprised at the incalculable damages that will cause on your relationship with others. You will even be surprised at yourself when you go through the message again when your anger is doused. Develop your mind by reading classic books. In so doing, you will develop the right nuances and abilities to lead effectively in the 21st century. Your intellectual exploration on books will align you with the conceptual rendition of the author leaving with depth and treasures to enjoy. Talk less and listen more. The more you talk, the less you are valued. It is better to act more in positive ways, achieving results, than to use your vocal cavity carelessly. You don’t need to impress people or prove any point because achieving your goals and becoming really successful is far better than the pursuit of general appeal. The change we seek must start within and then without. We must teach our children the right social etiquette as they brace up for their future.
