The panel discussed the current state of ready-to-wear fashion in Nigeria, stating that it is promising, but much work must be done on behalf of the industry in terms of raising a generic standard, ensuring skills acquisition, and in the area of mass production. Konga CEO, Sim Shagaya stated that “fashion has the highest return rates than any other industry.” He also expanded on the process between the shop floor, retailers, and the customers in e-commerce in Nigeria and challenges within each phase.

Assistant Creative Director, Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, Ifueko Igiehon emphasized on the need for specialisation and clearly defining roles, as well as partnering with other countries to increase production until we have the capacity to produce more within Nigeria. All members of the panel concluded that Nigerian people are likely to wear ‘made in Nigeria’ clothing, however the industry should work toward holding itself to a high standard. Head Brand Management, Strategy & Communications, Sterling Bank PLC, Mr. Abiola Aloba spoke on the pertinence of skill acquisition, stating that, “40% of our CSR is dedicated to skills acquisition, and we support ideas that are selling fashion, selling a lifestyle and most importantly selling an idea.” The event was an overall success, many cards were exchanged, and hopefully many ideas were hatched.   ConnectNigeria_Lagos Connectnigeria_hats COnnectNigeria_Pret ConnectNigeria_konga ConnectNigeria_laidbackhats connectnigeria_simi2 connectnigeria_twins connectnigeria-laidbackdumebi ConnectNigeria+Lagoslaidback ConnectNigeria_LagoslaidbackConnectNigeria_Lagos Laidback
