Over 250 startups in the Nigerian creative industry alongside 1,200 delegates, corporate organizations and allied government agencies are all set to participate in the 2019 Nigeria Creativity Festival scheduled for November 2019.

Announcing this recently in Lagos, Mr. Ade Alabi, head of the festival’s organsing team stated that all is set for the hosting of this year’s festival which is billed to be one of the most important events in the Nigerian Creative Industry calendar.

According to Alabi, the festival with the theme: “Creating and Innovating to Diversify and Grow the Nigerian Economy”, is aimed at converging all key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial/creative ecosystem for a full day of active engagement, learning, support and networking. The objective is to stimulate growth of the creative industry, renew the social contract between businesses and the support system, and drive the establishment of a new creative order

The Nigeria Creativity Festival is the unique and ideal platform with an aim to making the most of the expression of the true Nigerian spirit; the spirit of creativity and productiveness; of commerce and industry; of doggedness and resilience and; of creative resourcefulness for the growth of the Nigerian economy

The event is positioned to deepen on-going discussions, stimulate measurable actions and provide the most inclusive and sweeping answers to the issues plaguing the development of the creative industry in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Creativity Festival is expected to gather the most influential creative industry startups, industry professionals, policy makers and industry supporters for a full day of expert-led conferences and tailored networking events to learn, share, discuss and chart a new path for the Nigerian creative industry. Stakeholders, during the sessions, would deliberate on five key issues namely opportunities, financing, mentoring, creative disruption and policy.

The event will cover current burning issues affecting the industry. These will include challenges associated with fluctuations in the economy which, in turn, contribute to cycles of sensitive developments in the creative industry.

According to Alabi,

“to address the impact of the financial, economic and societal challenges facing the creative industry and to create new sources of growth, stakeholders need to adapt and rethink their strategies by collaborating with fellow players in creating new forms of philosophies. The 2019 Nigeria Creativity Festival is designed to offer insights, inspiration and solution-oriented tools to turn these philosophies into actions”

Aside from the national conference, the festival will feature an exhibition show that will provide opportunity for startups and service providers in the industry to showcase existing product, services and solutions.

With an agenda structured around presentations in plenary and panel discussions to support focused conversations between businesses and business enablers, the event will attract stakeholders from across the country, all with the express purpose of boosting the growth of the creative industry.​

The event will delve in detail into opportunities in creative industry funding and will allow delegates to be wholly updated on the industry by some of the most senior experts in the sector. The event will also look at the roles and opportunities for all players in the industry, including investors and financiers, government agencies, and solutions providers whilst networking with the leading professionals from across the country.​

Finance and funding, a major discourse at the event, will be structured around key subject matters ranging from the possibilities of public-private partnerships to unlocking hidden potentials, to the challenges of funding creative startups, the opportunities to be found in the creative industry, and the strategies to address the challenge of growth.​

According to Alabi,

“Nigeria Creativity Festival will offer stakeholders a platform for discussing and sharing experiences, and deliberating towards innovative interventions to support the growth of the nation’s economy through the development of a vibrant creative industry.  The festival is expected to generate actionable recommendations that will transform the creative landscape and create new opportunities across the country.”

The festival is expected to welcome over 1,200 delegates, C-level executives and top government functionaries, in addition to the over N2 billion worth of business deals that is expected to be struck over the event.
