As part of the activities marking the closing ceremony of ‘Africa conference’ at University of Texas, Executive Vice Chairman, Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy (ISGPP), Dr. Tunji Olaopa has been honoured with the ‘Thabo Mbeki award for Public Service and Scholarship. Olaopa who was a keynote speaker at the conference,   was surprised at the award as it had been kept as a closely guarded secret by the organizers. The award, titled Thabo Mbeki Award for Public Service and Scholarship is usually presented to any African who has distinguished him/herself with an unblemished service record in eitrher public or private sector. Such an individual must be committed to the project of African Renaissance and African Unity The 18th Africa Conference which is an annual gathering of intellectuals from across the world to discuss the thematic issues that are relevant to the understanding of Africa and African diaspora, was held on March 30-April 1 at the University of Texas at Austin U.S. This year’s conference was themed “Leadership and Institutions in Africa”   Feature image photo credit: pressreader.com
