Reigning Nigeria 100m (10.79 seconds) and 200m (22.04 seconds) record holder, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, raced to a legal time and Season’s Best (SB) of 10.90s to finish 2nd in the women’s 100m event at the Doha Diamond League. Olympian, Elaine Thompson followed closely in 3rd place with 10.93s on the clock. Right at the forefront of the race was Cote d’Ivoire’s Marie Josee Ta Lou who swept the records with a World Lead (WL) and Personal Best (PB) of 10.85s to finish in first place. Maurielle Ahoure came in 4th with 10.96s on the clock, while South Africa’s Carina Horn and Anne Schippers settled for the 5th and 6th place respectively. The South African ran to a Personal Best (PB) and National Record (NR) time of 10.98s while Dafne made a Season’s Best (SB) time of 11.03s. The provisional entry list for the second meeting of the 2018 Diamond League in Shanghai on May 12, has been released, and Nigeria’s Champion Blessing Okagbare’s name is strikingly missing from the women’s 200m entry list released on Monday by the IAAF.
