The Nigerian contingent grabbed a total of 16 medals at the just concluded 2018 African International Gymnastics Level System Championships in Pretoria, South Africa.

Winning!

The team, which comprised 22 gymnasts, won 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. Moferanoluwa Lawal, Yimika Kolade, Mindy Akinola and Avani won Gold at the event, while Nimishe Sandeep and Morola Lawal won Silver. The Bronze medalists include, Geda Liyel-Imoke, Volda Liyel-Imoke, Daval liyel-Imoke and Safiya Tukur. Other gymnasts are Adila Salisu, Lara Anot, Safiya Tukur, Iseoluwa Babarinde, Amaka Asemota, Daniella Asemota and Tamilore Falayajo. In congratulating them for a job well-done, Minister for Youth and Sport, Solomon Dalung, said:
“All thanks to God Almighty they are done with the first competition. Nigeria got 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze medals at the just concluded African Age groups level system championship. “The Nigerian team came out top in the last edition of the championship but Coach Asuquo is optimistic the team will do even better this time. We are expecting to bring back more medals this year. “Various sports in Nigeria are taking a new and higher dimension and with determination, we will re-position sports and place Nigeria among other global sports competitors across the world.”
From 3rd to 5th of August 2018, Nigeria will participate at the Regional and Junior Olympics Level Competition where the nation will expect to win more medals.
