ConnectNigeria_FALCONETS The Falconets began their 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup title bid on a shaky note. As they forced Christopher Cuellar’s ladies to a draw in Canada, Nigeria’s U20 women national team played out a 1-1 draw with Mexico in their opening group game of the 2014 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup in Canada. Played at the Moncton Stadium, Moncton saw both sides show the zeal to emerge victorious towards making an impression in the competition, but it was the Mexicans that drew first blood through Fabiola Ibarra in the 23rd minute before Inneh Queens midfielder Osarenoma Igbinovia drew level for the Falconets with three minutes into the half time break. On resumption of the second half, both countries tried hard to get the winning goal but that didn’t happen as both sides shared the spoils despite several substitutions. All teams in Group C now boast of a point each after recording a 1-1 draw in their opening group game. Peter Dedevbo’s ladies will face Korea Republic in their second game of the tournament on Saturday at the Moncton Stadium, Moncton. Martha Harris’ second half equaliser ensured the Asians shared the spoils against England.
