Leicester City and Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has become the third Nigerian player to feature in every game played in the English Premier League in a single season.
The Nigerian was on target for Leicester in their last game of the season against Chelsea at the King Power Stadium, making it his 38th start for the Foxes this season.
The remarkable midfielder is arguably the best attacker in the Premier League, and it is astonishing that until the final game of the 2018-2019 campaign, Ndidi was not suspended or handed a red card for fowl play.
The first Nigerian to ever play all 38 games in a Premier League season was Joseph Yobo.
The former Super Eagles skipper and centre back made the record in the 2006-2007 campaign with Everton.
Yobo started and completed all 38 games, recording 3,420 minutes of playtime. He is also Nigeria’s joint record holder for the most games played for his country.
For five years, no other Nigerian in the Premier League could match up to Yobo’s record for Everton, until the rise of another ex-Nigerian international, Victor Moses.
Moses in his prime days, featured in all of Wigan Athletic’s matches in the 2011/2012 season, his final year at the club before he moved to Chelsea in 2012.
Moses is currently on loan to Turkish topflight, Fenerbahce, where he has made 12 appearances and scored two goals so far.
