Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi has been sidelined till April after undergoing minor knee surgery. Mikel has been unavailable for Chelsea in the last four games, including League Cup final win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday but is set to miss a chunk more following his surgery. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed the surgery and set an April date for his return to action. “Mikel had a little surgery on his meniscus,” he told the press. “We are expecting him to be out for about a month – one week is already gone. There is not too much optimism or pessimism. “I would say [he will return] first week of April.” As a result, Mikel is set to miss Chelsea’s crucial Premier League games against West Ham, Southampton and Hull City as well as the return leg of their Champions League round-16 tie against French Champions Paris Saint-Germain.   About the Writer: Arinze Ude (@arturozinga) is an aspiring cancer research scientist with a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (Haematology).
