Fasuba hit the spotlight in 2003 with the national trials which saw him selected for the 4×100 metres relay at the World Championships in Athletics, 2003, a tournament in which Nigeria finished fourth. At the inaugural edition of the Afro-Asian Games in 2003, Fasuba gave the world a glimpse of what to expect with a 100m win. Since then, he did not look back and went on to win numerous laurels for Nigeria at the continental and global levels. Fasuba announced his presence as one of the top global athletes in the 2004 Athens Olympics Games in Greece, after helping Nigeria win a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay. In the same year, the Sapele man won the 100m race at the 14th African Championships in Congo. He would grab silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.

Olusoji Adetokunbo Fasuba became the fastest man in Africa during the Doha Grand Prix in May 2006, after winning the 100m race in a time of 9.85 seconds, beating the 1996 record set by Frankie Fredericks (9.86s). Two years later, Fasuba became the world indoor champion over 60 metres, he is the first African to hit such an achievement. The Nigerian sprinter also commands an impressive presence on the African stage. In 2007 All Africa Games, he won two gold medals in the 100m and 4x100m relays. After years of flying Nigeria’s flag high, Fasuba decided to join the British Royal Navy in April 2011, quitting his athletics career.
