ConnectNigeria_igeria manager Stephen Keshi The Nigerian Super Eagles have a double-header AFCON qualifiers match against Congo on Saturday, and with South Africa next Wednesday but what many might not know is that the coach, Stephen Keshi is actually handling the team without being given a penny. A relationship which started great went sour after the last Nation’s Cup and World Cup with the latter, seeing the Eagles crash out after suffering a 2-0 defeat to France. After this occurrence, Keshi threatened to quit but was deterred by the timely intervention of the Presidency. Currently, due to the chaos which has clouded the NFF, contract talks have been on hold. This, which naturally would have spelt doom for the team preparing for two crucial matches, has instead ended in hopes being raised by a true patriot. The early arrival of the Super Eagles in Calabar is proof of the positive reaction of the good example Stephen Keshi has displayed. Patriotism has played a major role in building developed countries today. Keshi’s patriotism shouldn’t go unnoticed as it can be used as a starting point for nation building in Nigeria. With that being said, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be spurred on by their enigmatic coach and their morale will definitely be high when they file out against their Congolese counterparts come Saturday.
