  Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has won the English Premier League Player of the Month award for the month of March 2021. The Leicester City star scored a total of 5 goals in three outings for the Foxes in March ahead of the international break.

Iheanacho joined the league of Nigerian players to have scored a hat trick in the history of the Premier League after scoring three times against Sheffield United on March 14 in a 5-0 home win. The Nigerian and his English teammate, Jamie Vardy, has formed a strong partnership in attack for Brendan Rodgers in the absence of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes. Popular among his fans with the nickname ‘’Seniorman Kelz,’’ Iheanacho also scored in Leicester’s vital 2-1 win against Brighton and their 1-1 draw against Burnley in the Premier League.

Reacting to the award, the Super Eagles star thanked his teammates for the support and expressed his delight at playing at the moment.
‘I’m so pleased and honoured to win this award. It’s great to be recognised, but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my team-mates and the manager. I’m really enjoying playing at the moment and hopefully, I can push on and help the team to finish as high as possible this season.’ Kelechi Iheanacho
Iheanacho beat the likes of Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, Harry Kane, Jesse Lingard, Illan Meslier, Leandro Trossard, Luke Shaw, and Andreas Christensen to win the monthly prize.
