Media personality and winner of one of Nigeria’s foremost reality TV shows Katung Aduwak is excited about his new movie released last weekend.

The film titled “Heaven’s Hell,” a psychological drama, was shot as far back as 2012, with a grand cast which includes Bimbo Manuel, Bimbo Akintola, Nse Ikpe-Etim, OC Ukeje, Gideon Okeke, Linda Ejiofor, Damilola Adegbite, Chet Anekwe, Kalu Ikeagwu, Katherine Obiang, Femi Jacobs, Fabian Lojede, and popular afro-pop singer Waje.

“Heaven’s Hell,” inspired by true life events, tells the story of 2 housewives, Alice Henshaw, played by Nse Ikpe Etim, and Tsola Aliu played by Bimbo Akintola, who although best of friends, manage to hide the trauma and abuse they each experience at the hands of their husbands from each other. The film written produced and directed by Katung, with inputs from Tenyin Ikpe Etim and Uyai Ikpe Etim, explores domestic violence, as well as betrayal and deceit among spouses and friends.

Katung said about the new movie:

“I think Heaven’s Hell will feel as real to many as it felt to me when I heard the original story, as real as it felt to the original characters too because there is a victim in almost everyone we know, we have all just become really great at masking our true issues in order to be accepted and validated by society. No one is worth putting up fronts for… in fact almost everything you see on social media is not real, it’s just a place where people can get validation,”

Scenes for the film were shot in Lagos and Wales with the principal actors in 2013, including scenes shot at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison. It was initially due for release in January 2015, but was delayed by the Nigerian Films and Censors Board who insisted that the film be re-edited, removing some “explicit and inciting content”

The director expressed his appreciation to the crew, his staff and partners who stood behind him while the project was still in the making.

“I am very happy that we are now ready to release this piece, It is not my first movie but I am particularly happy about this; I owe this to every member of the crew and the entire staff of OneOEight Media, also the members of Hashtag Media for being more than a reliable partner; this is a win for us and I am very sure that Nigerians can’t wait for it to get to the cinemas”

Heaven’s Hell was released nationwide on Friday, 10th of May 2019 in cinemas.

The Kaduna born Katung Aduwak became famous in 2006 on the wings of one of Africa’s most followed reality shows. He later served as Senior Channel Manager at MTV Base, Senior Creative Director at VIACOM International and Executive Director at Chocolate City. He is currently the CEO of OneOEight Media. Even though he has featured in a number of movies, ‘’Heaven’s Hell’’  is his first film as director
