Boat cruises and ferry rides are awesome as tourist attractions on Lagos Island. The lovely coastline and jetties are quite inviting when seen from the Falomo Bridge. But they are also the new mode of transportation from the island to the mainland if you want to beat the Lagos traffic. It has been said that it takes just 7minutes to go from the island (Marina) to mainland (Apapa/Oyingbo) by boat.

The popular routes covered in Lagos waterways include Falomo to Ikorodu, Marina to Ojo/Badagry/Sabo Koji/Mile2/Ofin/Lekki/Ebute Ero, and Ofin to Badagary, amongst others. Also, it costs roughly N150 – N1300 to move around Lagos depending on your destination, making the waterway transportation sought after. However, the downside of the ride is the possibility of it being cancelled or delayed because of bad weather, especially during the rainy season. If you’re interested in Lagos waterways but know little about it, we have you covered. Some ferries are owned by private individuals or agencies, while some others are owned by the state government’s agencies. Uber, for example, launched a boat service in Lagos around October last year.
