Call it a Lucky goal or a decisive goal, either way you won’t be wrong. Yesterday Nigerians were witnesses to a highly tensed match at Esuene Stadium in Calabar against the brave warriors of Namibia.
The spectators, who filled the stadium to capacity, saw the Namibians rely on defensive tactics which made it extremely difficult for the Super Eagles to break through. The final minutes of the match turned to be the lucky period for Nigerians. The unexpected happened and no one would have bet the Granada of Spain forward, Ike Uche, would be headlining newspapers this morning.
The forward who received a cross that was deflected, trapped the ball in his possession, dribbled the defender with a dummy and deft touch before finishing with a powerful shot fill with finesse to score for the team.
The goal and the success of the match will surely have boosted spirits for not just the team but for the head coach, Steven Keshi, who still has eyes watching him and fans depending on him. This match will surely give them hope to win their subsequent matches.
