  Leicester City FC of England and Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has been nominated for Goal of the Season award for the Foxes. An official statement on Leicester City’s verified Twitter handle today, July 22, 2020, saw 12 goals nominated for the award with the Nigerian’s brilliant goal against Brentford in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup last January making the list. The goal would go on to be the match-winner for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

A cross from James Justin saw the former Manchester City star tap the ball into the goal with just four minutes into the encounter. Aside from Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury, Ben Chilwell, Harvey Barnes, Ayoze Perez, and Ricardo Pereira are other players gunning for the prize. Other award categories include the Supporters’ Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season. With voting set to end by 12 pm on Friday, July 24, 2020, there will be no End of Season Dinner for the club this season due to social distancing, a resultant effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

Iheanacho has been very vital for the club in their quest for a UEFA Champions League spot, scoring a total of 13 goals in all competition so far in the current season. He has also assisted three goals this season and is looking forward to his return to the Nigerian national team after a long layoff from Gernot Rohr’s plans.
