Huawei has introduced its first Windows phone 8 Smartphone, simply named Huawei 4Africa, to Nigeria. Speaking at the official launch of the phone in the country, the Managing Director, Huawei Devices, West Africa, Mr. Tony Liang described the Huawei Ascend W1 Windows phone 8 4Africa as a low cost device powered by Microsoft. He noted that the smartphone, with the longest standby time in its class, offers consumers a smarter alternative at the right price and is expected to aggressively drive smart phone penetration in Nigeria. According to him, Huawei is fast transforming from a company that sells millions of devices in single transactions to large businesses, to a “Business to Customer” [B2C] brand that also sells individual devices directly to Nigerians through a wide network of partners via Global Wentech which is the Authorized Distributor of Huawei Devices in Nigeria. He said Huawei believes that everyone can be the center of information and that the world would be a better place if access and information barriers were knocked down, its strong suite of mobile phones, mobile broadband devices and home device is testimony to Huawei Device’s focus on customers and its commitment to providing user-friendly mobile internet experiences through ongoing innovation. Liang said, “The addition of the Ascend W1 to our Smartphone portfolio gives consumers access to an even wider range of Huawei smart phones at a price that makes sense to consumers, the 4Africa phone underscores our commitment to put Smartphone’s within reach of every consumer no matter who you are or what you want from your phone.”
