The city of Awka is rather inconspicuous in the consciousness of the average Nigerian and it is not hard to see why. It is the state capital of Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria. We will be running down a list of hotels in Awka township.

Consolidated Alliance NG

One of the more prominent hotels in the town, Malikwu Hotels, offers decent lodging at incredibly affordable rates and interestingly the hotel is rated highly especially in nightlife and entertainment for Awka residents and visitors on a short stay. There is something for everyone from the classic rooms to the royal and dominion suites. They also have WiFi. A night’s stay in a classic room will cost you N3,500 while a royal will set you back about N4,500.

2. Palos Verdes Hotel

Hotel Planner

This is a two-star hotel which could be worth your while if you don’t wish to throw money around. The hotel is housed in a single storey complex and is decent in appearance although not particularly expansive. The hotel’s lowest charge is N5,000 for its deluxe rooms. They also offer free WiFi, and lodging is free for guests under twelve years of age. What is more, you say? Well, the hotel is just next door to Nnamdi Azikiwe University so you can expect the vibrancy of youth.

3. Golphin Suites

Another decent hotel in the UNIZIK vicinity, Golphin is highly rated by city dwellers and touts itself as historic (I could not put a finger on why though). With free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, and 24-hour power supply to name a few, you have got to be honest. N5,000 is pretty decent for a night’s stay. Infact, in my opinion, too decent.

The hotel caters to travelers who call into Awka on their way to their various destinations and that is particularly true in this festive season. The hotel carries a three-star rating. While they don’t have an elevator (frankly they don’t need one), its porter services are decent. It goes without saying that the prices are decent too. The rooms go for N10000, N12000 and N20000.
