On May 11, 2015, the Sunshine Queens Women Football Club of Akure pulled a massive comeback defeat against hosts, Capital City Doves, in a Nigeria Women Professional League (NWPL) Group B Week Two match.

The visiting team held the game from the first whistle, dictating the game pace as they proved their strength to the home team at the Area 3 Sports Complex in Abuja.

Shola Oyewusi began the onslaught for the visitors 24 minutes into the game thanks to a brilliant pass from Ademola Aminu.

Ten minutes later, Sunshine Queens suffered a brief setback when Gladys Akpa scored an own goal to draw the hosts level after a corner by Capital City Doves’ Nelly Kalu.

However, with only minute to the end of the first half, Patience Agbokadi restored Sunshine’s lead with a low direct shot from outside the area.

In the 67th minute, Helen Obinna had a perfect chance to level the scores once more for Capital City Doves, but she could not complete the move.

The host team tried its best to create an equalizing chance, but they were hugely unsuccessful as Sunshine held their own firmly.

On their part, the visitors also tried to increase the goal difference, but were met with great difficulty from the host team’s defense line until the full-time whistle.
