Everyone wants a beautiful and smooth face, we all want to look our best at all times without having to expose our skin to the various chemicals and products that cost a lot of money. Some of the ingredients used to make these products can be harmful to the skin in the long run and cause illnesses or infections. It is possible to maintain a clear face using common foods and fruits in the home, you just need to know what to mix and how to use them for maximal benefits. The following are some simple recipes to take care of your face.
  • For natural face lightening: To gently and naturally lighten the face, you can rub plain unsweetened yoghurt onto your face and leave for about 30 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Alternatively, you can cut a lemon into two and rub it all over the face and neck for an even tone and wash off with tepid water. Honey can also be use to lighten the face, just rub raw or pure honey all over the face and leave for as 30 minutes or more, then rinse off with warm water. Repetition of these will gently lighten the face.
  • For exfoliating and moisturising: Apply blended cucumber paste onto the face for about 20 minutes to exfoliate and moisturise the face, then wash with normal water. This helps in keeping the skin of the face soft and lively. You can also use egg white for the same purpose, just apply the gel on the face and leave to dry and harden, then wash away with a warm and wet towel.
  • For face cleansing: Honey works as a great cleansing agent for the face and as it possesses antibacterial and antifungal properties. Apply raw honey on the face for about 40 minutes, then wash off with tepid water and see the amazing effects. Another method is to combine two tablespoonfuls of orange juice and a pinch of powdered turmeric and apply the mixture onto the face. Wash off with normal water after about 20 minutes.
  • For spots and scar removal: Aloe vera is the commonest remedy used to fade and reduce scars on the face because of its cooling effect, antioxidants and skin tightening properties. Applying the pure gel thoroughly onto the face should produce visible results within a few weeks.
