  In a bid to develop grassroots football in all parts of the globe, world football governing body, FIFA, is set to embark on the construction of two mini stadia in Nigeria. While one of the stadia will be situated in Ugborodo community of Warri southwest Council of Delta State, the other will be located in Kebbi State.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, visited Ugborodo community to inform the people of the project as construction work is set to commence in two weeks. President Pinnick also revealed that the stadia will be of international standard with a capacity of 750 people.
‘It is a FIFA/NFF Goal Project aimed at improving the growth of grassroots football with the provision of the standard pitch in remote areas across the globe. It will be constructed at Ugborodo and Kebbi State, and it has a capacity of 750. It will be of international standard.’ Amaju Pinnick
Also, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the member representing Warri southwest constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, commended the NFF for making the community host to the FIFA/NFF goal project. He went further to note that the completion of the project would improve the development of football in their communities alongside other positive impacts.

Further, Chief Ayiri Emami, the Ologbotsere of Warri kingdom who accompanied Pinnick during his visit to the community, emphasized the relevance of the stadium in the discovery of young soccer talents in the community.
‘Now, some of our youth can focus their attention on other sporting activities, particularly football. Maybe, in the next few years, Ugborodo community will produce great footballers for the country.’ Ayiri Emami
