Connectnigeria-Nigeria-Falconets-   Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s national team, The Falconets, beat Korea Republic 2-1 in their second Group C fixture to secure their first victory and go top of the group with 4points boosting their chances of progressing to the next round of the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Canada. Courtney Dike, who was starting her first World Cup game after coming on as a sub in the 1-1 draw in Mexico, made history when she took advantage of some horrid defending from Koreans to score the fastest goal in Women’s U-20 World Cup history. The goal put the Falconets in the driving seat from the start. They got their second in the 36th minute through Chinwendu Ihezuo, who controlled Ugo Njoku’s cross before shooting past the hapless Korean keeper. Falconets went into the break with the two-goal lead; however, the Koreans pulled one back after the restart through Kim Soyi in the 72nd minute. Nigeria’s playmaker, Halimatu Ibrahim Ayinde was named the player of the match. England and Mexico produced a 1-1 draw in the group’s other fixture. These results mean The Falconets are the favourites to win the group and will need to avoid defeat against England on Wednesday to achieve that. England are currently second on two points but are closely followed by Mexico with 2 points and an inferior goal difference. What are your thoughts about the Falconets’ performance? Do they think they can go on and win the cup?
