The second edition of the International Financial Inclusion Conference (IFIC) is set to be held this October. Besides the many attractions and highlights of this event, financial technology businesses are being given a chance to exhibit for free to an audience of industry experts.

Organizers of the IFIC describe it as “Nigeria’s flagship Financial Inclusion event”. Hosted by the National Financial Inclusion Governance Committees, the IFIC brings together financial services providers, development partners, regulators, and other stakeholders relevant to financial inclusion in the country to deliberate on burning issues affecting Nigeria’s drive to expand the reach of Nigeria’s financial system to underserved populations. This year’s instalment of the annual conference is running with the theme, “Financial Inclusion for All: Global Insights for Local Impact.”

Details for Intending Exhibitors

FinTechs are recognized as important partners in this space. As such, the IFIC is encouraging them to exhibit at its event. Upcoming startups stand a chance of securing a free demo pod at the Startup Launchpad segment of the conference. There they’ll get to showcase their innovative products to high-profile attendees. Other highlights of the Startup Launchpad will include roundtable discussions with startup CEOs, pitch presentations, meetings with Private Equity and Venture Capitalist investors, and a workshop on Regulatory Licensing featuring the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), National Insurance Commission, and departments within the CBN. Partners of the IFIC include the CBN, the Bankers’ Committee, and the Financial Inclusion Steering Committee.

Selection Criteria for the Startup Launchpad

In order to be selected for the event, applying FinTechs must meet these criteria:
  • Show evidence of working on innovative solutions that concern Financial Inclusion and related matters
  • Innovations and inventions must be practicable and applicable to the Nigerian environment, and effectively solve existing problems
  • Be able to pitch their prototypes at the IFIC FinTech Startup Launchpad
