Super Eagles Technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, has decided on a new addition to the squad to replace the injured Francis Uzoho. Uzoho suffered a fractured rib in his last outing for Spanish Segunda division side, Elche — and the goaltender has been confirmed out of the Super Eagles upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) face-off against South Africa. Rohr, has handed Eyimba shot-stopper, Theophilus Afelokhai, his first call to represent Nigeria, following Uzoho’s absence for the next four weeks. Afelokhai was an impeccable part of the People’s Elephant’s, Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup campaign, until they were knocked out. The 30-year-old, who is clearly in great form, will now battle his club substitute, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, and Chippa United’s Daniel Akpeyi, for the no.1 spot, on the Nigerian national team. The Super Eagles’ long awaited decisive AFCON encounter against the Bafana Bafana will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. After which the Eagles will host Uganda in a friendly, scheduled for the Stephen Keshi Stadium, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.
