Both players were the last to join the squad as Gernot Rohr looks set to fully prepare the African football giants for both matches. Paul Onuachu who was initially placed on the standby list was called up on Sunday, October 4, 2020, after SSC Napoli of Italy striker pulled out of the friendly due to coronavirus which has seen him alongside his Napoli teammates restricted from travelling. Onuachu who has been impressive for Genk this season with seven goals in seven games so far, joined the Belgian side from Danish league side, FC Midtjylland, in 2019, after spending seven years in Denmark. Ahmed Musa who inherited the Eagles captaincy from John Obi Mikel is expected to add more flair to the Eagles attack against the Desert Foxes and Carthage Eagles as Nigeria prepares for the African Cup of Nations two-leg qualifiers against Sierra Leone come November 2020. After the match against Algeria on October 9, the Eagles will take on Tunisia four days later on October 13 at the Jacques Lehmans Arena. Since the  4-2 victory over Lesotho in an AFCON qualifier on November 17, 2019, in the Setsoto Stadium, Maseru, the Super Eagles have not featured in any game due to the coronavirus pandemic.
