Turmeric milk or golden milk is simply an infusion of turmeric powder or turmeric roots into milk. It is a staple cure for cold days and running nose in Indian homes. It is easy to prepare and according to Natural Living Ideas, it has a ton of health benefits some of which include providing relief from aches and pains, as it helps strengthens the spine and the joints in the body. It is also a natural liver detoxifier, cleansing the liver of toxic materials and boosting the performance of the liver and by extension the body system.

 Ingredients

  • A piece of fresh turmeric or alternatively ½ teaspoon of organic turmeric powder
  • A cup of milk (full-fat milk/skimmed milk)
  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper

Directions

If you’re using the raw turmeric, grate it and add to a pot containing the milk and water. Let it boil for about 10 minutes. Put off the heat, add the black pepper, and allow to sit for 5 minutes, then strain into a cup and drink warm.

Feel free to add sweeteners especially for children.

If you cannot access the raw turmeric and you’re using the powder instead, begin by boiling the water and milk over low heat while stirring in the powder. Let it boil for 10 minutes then turn off the heat and add the black pepper.
