Banana peels aren’t totally useless. There’s a lot you can do with them before sticking them in the bin. This article tells you five of the more interesting uses that may benefit you.

Clean Household Items

Banana peels make for good cleaning agents if the objects you’re cleaning are household plants, shoes, or some silvery metal, like a ring. The inside of the peels can be useful if you don’t have a regular polish around, or if you can’t buy one just yet.

Reduce Wrinkles

If you’re concerned about the wrinkles showing up on your face, you may get rid of them by applying banana peels to the affected areas. Old wisdom says you can expect the wrinkles to smooth out after a while of using the peels. Just apply it on your wrinkles let the oil and residue from the banana dry on your skin, and leave it overnight, before washing it in the morning. The positive effect should start showing after a few days.

Deal With Acne

You can do this thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of the banana peel. Just rub the peel on the acne for at least five minutes, and let the oil and residue from the peel remain on your face. After this, wash the area with warm water and dry it with a towel. Do this three times for three days. The affected area should become less visible after this.

Whiten Teeth

Rub the white side of the banana peel on your teeth every day for several days, and it’ll kill off the microbes that cause dental diseases. It could even whiten your teeth if you use it long enough. The peels contain potassium, which could help remove yellow stains that result from eating or drinking certain kinds of items (e.g. coffee).

Adding Them To Garden Or Farm Soil

Banana can add plenty of nutrients to the soil. You may make fertilizer by mixing them with water, make them into compost, or place them under crops to prevent certain kinds of pests from festering there.

Final Words

It turns out that banana peels are quite useful. Next time you’re munching on a banana, remember the many ways you can use the peels afterwards, so you don’t throw them away immediately. Featured Image Source: The Guardian NG
