Thankfully, a lot of children now eat eggs because most parents no longer believe the fallacy that giving children eggs and meat will make them so used to sweet things that they would steal to have them. I’ll say it again for emphasis, children need eggs! Every child should consume a minimum of four eggs per week; this number ensures that he gets the required nutrients while avoiding the risk of high cholesterol due to excessive consumption. Here are the health benefits of egg consumption:

1. It Aids Brain Development:

Nigerians and prayer are five and six; the average Nigerian believes that he can pray anything into existence. Even though this character is quite commendable, it needs to be backed by actions. Now, how does this relate to what we are talking about? Parents pray to have smart kids. But they need to back their prayers with eggs. That’s because eggs are brain food. They contain choline, a nutrient that aids brain development and memory enhancement.

2. They are Good for the Eyes:

If you want your eyes to benefit from the goodness of egg then, eat the yolk. It’s the yellow, sweet part of an egg. It is rich in carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants counteract the degenerative processes like cataracts that can affect our eyes as we age.

3. They are Great for Bone Health:

Bone building takes place from childhood to adolescence. Thus, children need calcium and Vitamin D in this critical stage of their formation. If they don’t get it, they may develop rickets, a medical condition that is characterized by weak, soft bones. Eggs are an excellent source of Vitamin D. So, if you want your children to have strong bones, give them eggs.

4. They are Gluten Free:

Oh yes, you heard right, eggs are gluten-free. Thus, your kids can still eat eggs even if they are gluten sensitive.

5. They are a Good Source of Folic Acid:

Getting the right amount of folic acid is crucial for the neural health of children. The emphasis on this begins from the foetal stage through childhood and adolescence. An egg is one of the food sources of folic acid. It should therefore be included in the children’s diet to ensure that they receive the needed dose.

6. It Aids Hair and Nails Growth:

Kids are fond of chewing off their nails. Eggs contain the nine essential amino acids that help in the healthy growth of hair and nails. In conclusion, eggs are a great food for kids. So, find interesting ways to give them to your children. Featured Image Source: Medical News Today
