Two days ago in my previous article, I discussed how superstar rich kid Davido received 180 million Naira from fans and friends after he jokingly dropped his account number soliciting for donations ahead of his birthday.

Within the first 10 minutes after this announcement, the “OBO” crooner received 7 million Naira. In the last 48 hours, the mega superstar has received a total sum of 200 million Naira. With several reactions trailing such stunts, many have attributed such massive support to the artist’s large heart. While others felt apprehensive of such stunt stating that it would spark off similar ones, of which it has.

While we thought that Davido would be smiling to the bank to cash out his 200 million Naira to clear off his Range Rover and party all night at Cubana Hotels, Lagos, he astounded the world again with another stunt, only that this time in his usual generous manner, he is gifting all the donations away to orphanage homes and foundations across Nigeria with an additional 50 million Naira from his personal coffers. Totalling the whole money to 250 million Naira, all to be given away.

This announcement was released on his Insta Stories today, 20 November 2021, at about 1 PM. This action has earned him a standing ovation across the social media world.

In the released announcement, the “Skelewu” and “Aye” singer stated that,

“My goal is to do this fundraising every year to celebrate my birthday and give back to people in need. It is my hope that my friends, fans and colleagues in the industry and the public will continue to support me as I drive this cause.”

To show the seriousness of this matter, a five-man disbursement committee consisting of three professors and one pastor has been set up by the singer to see to the sharing.

This has been warmly received across the country and beyond.

It is therefore expedient that this excellent example should be a thing worthy of emulation. Influencers, musicians, actors, skit-makers, and soccer stars should use their influence to champion good causes and projects across the country.

With so many dilapidated school structures and neglected communities in rural areas of the country where there are no drinkable water, maternal health care centres, equipped libraries, and schools, these influencers should always use every opportunity to crowdfund these gaps. A wise man once said, “with great power comes great responsibility”.
