Chika Chukwumerije, Technical Director of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), has been certified a pioneer global educator by the World Taekwondo (WT).

The Olympic bronze medalist was recommended by WT member national associations, alongside 27 other technical officials from 24 counties to undergo a three-day certification course at Taekwondowon in Muju, South Korea, backed by the World Taekwondo and the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation.

On completion of the course and fulfillment of its requirements, the selected technical officials were required to take a compulsory examination.

Chukwumerije and other officials who passed the examination have now gained certification to teach WT Coach Education Courses across the globe.

According to WT, the first WT Educator Certification Course was developed to train instructors who will then pass the knowledge to national taekwondo coaches across the globe.

The three-day course covers a variety of topics including two competition rules, safeguarding athletes, anti-doping, medical and other emergency management, WT history and culture, and much more.

Chukwumerije, who was glad to have been a part of the first edition of the coaching series, told newsmen that the knowledge he has gained will positively affect the curriculum for the six-zone coaching workshops across Nigeria.

I just graduated from the first World Taekwondo Educator Certification Program. It was a huge privilege and honor for me when the World Taekwondo Education Committee specifically reached out to me two weeks ago, saying that they needed the best technical minds around the world to be part of this pioneering program, whose objective is to develop a select number of World Taekwondo Educators who would be sent to various regions of the world to educate and train coaches that come for WT international events.
