Chidi Okezie is getting his groove back after three years, as he pulled a stunner to hit his Personal Best of 45.65s to finish 2nd at the 2018 Cayman Invitational in Georgetown on Saturday.

Gunning for the finish line

Jamaica’s Christopher Taylor was the man to beat in the race, running a Lifetime Best of 45.24s. The 19 year old, who dominated the race, from start to finish was a sight to behold as he raced to victory showing his spirit prowess with each step he took.

Javon Francis came in 3rd place with a time of 46.06s, while American sprinter, Vernon Norwood crossed the finish line in 4th place in 46.25s.

Okezie became Nigeria’s 400m champion in 2015 when as an underdog he proved himself Nigeria’s best at a meet in New York.

Since then he has been in action for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, but has not been able to replicate his victory in 2015 for Nigeria.

In 2016, Okezie won the Bronze medal in the men’s 400m event in the African Championships (AAC) staged in Durban, and with the next AAC competition coming up in less than two months in Asaba, the 400m national champ looks fired up to break his own PB record and prove himself to Nigerians and to the world.
